What is Windows S Mode?
Windows 10 in S mode is “a version of Windows 10 that’s streamlined for security and performance, while providing a familiar Windows experience.” To do that, it allows only apps from Microsoft Store, and requires Microsoft Edge for safe browsing.

S mode, is a stripped-down, tightly-locked, and low-end PC friendly way to run Windows 10. Who needs this version? Maybe kids or those with dementia? I’m not trying to be funny. It’s so restrictive as to be designed for that purpose. And it’s cheap. So if you are looking at new laptops and they S mode, that’s not REALLY a laptop.
An S mode laptop is a small step up similar to a Chrome book.
Generally these machines are LOW END processors which run a LIGHT version of the operating system better. What’s the downside of these generally cheap computers?
. You can only download Aps from the Microsoft store.. You can only use the Edge Browser (Microsoft store doesn’t have a download for Chrome or Firefox). Everything is saved to ONE Drive – you must have a Microsoft account installed on the computer.. It basically doesn’t work if you have no internet. (hurricanes). Zoom app is not available from the MS store so it can not be used. You can to go www.zoom.com and log into a meeting there.
What is the upside?
. Cheaper. travel friendly with internet available. more secure. If you can’t put anything on it, you can’t put anything bad on it either.

We do not sell S mode laptops or Chrome books.
