Not the best of topics, but maybe one you want to consider. Recently a close friend of mine passed away. I was shocked at the way her Facebook account was managed.
You can make sure your decisions about your Facebook page are what you want them to be by making your choices now. Here are the options:
> You can have your account deleted completely.
> You can memorialize your account – Facebook’s policy is to memorialize the account. Memorialized accounts are a place for friends and family to gather and share memories after a person has passed away. Memorializing an account also helps keep it secure by preventing anyone from logging into it.
> You can have your account deleted upon your death. Facebook does this automatically when it finds out you are gone, but I’m not sure how they find out.
> You can assign a LEGACY CONTACT to manage your account. That person must be part of your friends group. They will get a message from Facebook like the following:
Hi Friend,
Facebook now lets people choose a legacy contact to manage their account if something happens to them: Facebook information page FAQ
Since you know me well and I trust you, I chose you. Please let me know if you want to talk about this.
It might be best to discuss this with your friend, before sending the message. We wouldn’t want any undue stress!
It takes only a few seconds to set this up, and then you are good to go!
