PCMag reports Apple may add the 11-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Air, and 13-inch MacBook Pro models released in early 2014 to its obsolete products list. That means they’ll no longer be eligible for hardware repairs, and will only be eligible for “battery-only repairs in select countries for a limited time.” Apple does this for all products more than seven years old. All three laptops have been on Apple’s list of “vintage” products since 2020. So if you plan on hanging on to yours, you might want to send it for that new batter sooner rather than later. Generally speaking, we don’t recommend you continue on with unsupported products. |
